Roger Taylor is a musician from England and is the famous drummer of the band Duran Duran. This is what gave him recognition as a musician. He was born on April 26, 1960 at Birmingham of England to parents Jean and Hugh Taylor. He is still rocking on today just as he did several years ago.
He fell in love with drumming when he was twelve years old. At that time he also dreamt of becoming a goalkeeper at the English Premier League club. He has been an admirer of famous drummers of that era such as Tony Thompson of Chic, Paul Thompson of Roxy Music as well as Charlie Watts of the Rolling Stones. He learned to drum on his own by listening to the experts and he also played drums in a few local bands.
In the late seventies he joined Duran Duran which proved to be a wise decision for him. Within the next five to six years he gained an international celebrity image along with others in the band as well. He played drums for three studio albums with this band and played in a live album arena. His next big project was playing theme music for the ever popular James Bond movie “A View to a Kill” and that made them the number one band in the US.
Roger felt overwhelmed with the continuous touring and performing that took place in such a short amount of time. He officially left Duran Duran after performing at a concert in Philadelphia. This was his last performance with the band and it had more than two billion viewers worldwide.
In between he worked with two other fellow band artists and made the album “So Red The Rose” as part of their part-time project under the band name Arcadia. He also worked on the project, “The Power Station”.
After leaving Duran Duran he played with them during special events a few times. During the next decade he worked on a few of his own personal projects including working with Freebass and producing albums like "Love is Like Oxygen" as well as a few more. In 2001, he returned to the band that got him started, Duran Duran, for a second round and this time it was even more successful. The world renowned album “Astronaut” was produced and this singe album helped to keep them performing worldwide for a couple of years. The band also received a few valuable recognitions and awards from Q Magazine, MTV as well as the Brit Award.
His personal achievements include the title of the greatest musician of all time and he was also considered amongst the top five Britain’s most available single men in 2004. He married his one true love, Giovanna Cantone, on July 27, 1984. Taylor has three children named James, Ellea and Elliot. After a 21-year marriage his divorce was final in 2005 He married his second wife in 2007. He is still considered one of the most talented drummers of the century.
